World

Part of the fun in roleplaying is to be immersed in a virtual world. The game industry reduces it to two buckets: sensory envelopment (e.g., VR, graphical fidelity) and engagement (flow). We think this has pushed the industry to optimize for pixels rather than worlds.

We believe that immersion primarily springs from social dynamics. These include the perceived authenticity of other agents and their actions; and the world’s societal fabric, its economy, institutions, and history. Virtual worlds feel real when players co-create the social dynamics alongside designers. To this end, we have designed Shatterwake to utilize AI to let you be co-authors in its worldbuilding.

To foreground this, the game begins in the aftermath of a cataclysmic event, the Shattering. It’s a tabula rasa situation. History is missing, institutions are broken, and meaning is up for negotiation. You rebuild and, in doing so, write the world’s lore by uncovering the civilization that preceded the cataclysm while deciding what the new one becomes.

Born of a cataclysmic duel between rival gods of magic, the Shattering splintered the world into drifting shards bound by flickering wake-tethers. It toppled civilizations and burned away the memories of Shatterwake’s people. You awaken amid wreckage to rebuild, fuse islands, and unearth the lost names.

Wake-Tether Network

Wake-tethers stitch every shard into a single world. No realms, no server splits. Players from any region connect to the same living map, meeting as neighbors when links roll. Builds persist, economies sync, and events ripple globally, letting friends worldwide play together without migrations or rerolls.

Lore Mastery

Seek the world that existed before the Shattering. Excavate buried cities, decode pre-cataclysm scripts, and recover lost names. Our Narrative Agent validates your discoveries as canon, unlocking quests, sites, and rituals that resurrect vanished cultures and reshape remembrance.

Subterranean Ruıns

Beneath fractured bedrock sprawl the buried metropolises slammed underground during the Shattering. Their vaults guard erased names, lost lore, and dangerous relics. Descend through fault-tunnels and collapsed strata to recover history, unlock forgotten powers, and awaken what stirs in the dark.
